چکیده

In this study, we employed the planar source illumination (PSI) geometry to quantify optical properties of turbid media. Delta-P1 and P1 photon diffusion models were utilized to calculate the reflectance in the PSI geometry. The performance of the P1 and Delta-P1 diffusion models was evaluated using Monte Carlo simulation and liquid phantom measurements. Our results revealed that Delta-P1 diffusion model is more accurate than P1 diffusion model in recovering the absorption and scattering properties of turbid media.

Hybrid model of Monte Carlo simulation and diffusion theory for light reflectance by turbid media.

Light reflectance by semi-infinite turbid media is modeled by a hybrid of Monte Carlo simulation and diffusion theory, which combines the accuracy of Monte Carlo simulation near the source and the speed of diffusion theory distant from the source. For example, when the turbid medium has the following optical properties--absorption coefficient 1 cm-1, scattering coefficient 100 cm-1, anisotropy ...

Effective source term in the diffusion equation for photon transport in turbid media.

The Green's function for the diffusion equation is widely used to describe photon transport in turbid media. We have performed aseries of spectroscopy experiments on a number of uniform turbid media with different optical properties (absorption coefficient in the range 0.03-0.14 cm(-1), reduced scattering coefficient in the range 5-22 cm(-1)). Our experiments have been conducted in the frequenc...

Quantifying the properties of two-layer turbid media with frequency-domain diffuse reflectance.

Noncontact, frequency-domain measurements of diffusely reflected light are used to quantify optical properties of two-layer tissuelike turbid media. The irradiating source is a sinusoidal intensity-modulated plane wave, with modulation frequencies ranging from 10 to 1500 MHz. Frequency-dependent phase and amplitude of diffusely reflected photon density waves are simultaneously fitted to a diffu...

Optical Limiting Properties of Colloids Enhanced by Gold Nanoparticles Based on Nonlinear Refraction for Cw Laser Illumination

In this work, thermo-optical properties of gold nanoparticle colloids are studied using continuous wave (CW) laser irradiation at 532 nm. The nanoparticle colloids are fabricated by 18 ns pulsed laser ablation of pure gold plate in the distilled water. The formation of the nanoparticles has been evidenced by optical absorption spectra and transmission electron microscopy. The nonlinear optical ...

Efficient determination of the epidermal optical properties using a diffusion model-based approach: Monte Carlo studies.

In our previous studies, we have shown that the diffusing probe geometry can be used in conjunction with a two-layer diffusion model to accurately recover the absorption and scattering properties of skin in vivo. By modifying the original design to the diffusing probe with planar source (DPPS) geometry, we have also demonstrated that the efficiency of the accompanying multilayer diffusion model...
